Ahhh! A Moment to Relax

Tonight Jeremy and Aaron went to the playground, leaving me the chance to sit comfy in front of the fireplace while I imagined a fire burning inside of it. The candles are burning on the mantle and my multicolored mirror shines back the light of the room. Jeremy left some soft music playing in the background and I cannot imagine a better night. I was granted one of the greatest gifts a busy mom could get -- a few moments to herself to relax, to just be.

And isn't that what we all want -- a few moments when the weight of the world isn't quite so heavy, when all the stresses of our jobs and our lives don't seems so large, when we stop and say, "Ahh! Life is good!"

I often wonder how single moms do it. When do they get moments such as these -- Moments to relax and not be mom, but just be?

Now when they come rushing in from the playground I am always glad they are back and always missing them while they are gone.

But the chance to sit and enjoy this God-given moment seems like heaven after this last week. Life is good and my boys are great!

Rats and Strep

Rats and Strep but not Rats with strep.

This week has been one tough week. Last weekend we discovered that we have something living in our basement closet. Yuck!!! Gross!!!! Ewwww! So what job did my husband assign me for Monday? Calling the exterminator. Waiting for the exterminator on Monday. Waiting again for the exterminator on Wednesday. And waiting for the guy with the traps on Thursday. And in the mean time Aaron was diagnosed with strep throat and humongous tonsils on Tuesday with him being home Wednesday.

Life has been a creepy crawly ironic week. My bat fearing husband is also a rat fearing man as well. Who would have guessed. He parks his truck in the attached garage and then walks around the house so he won't have to go past the rat.

So who gets to show the basement to the exterminators and who has to explain it all to them? Me.

When Aaron found out we had a rat he was ready to go see. "Show me the rat, Mama. Let me get the rat. I'll get him for you, Mama."

Aren't kids wonderful. Strep throat and all and he's the biggest rat fighter of the bunch. He may still be scared of the dark, but he's ready to go fight the rat.
